Greetings, Jacqueline! I’m a 17-year-old who is in quite a pickle here. Ever since I bought the St. Michael statue, I have been dreaming with saints. Why is this happening to me?! My mom suggested to me to purchase candles for them. They also show me the color of their candles, the baths to purchase, and oils to buy. I don’t have a job and I’m not even 18 yet. Seriously, why did they choose me and not someone with a job? I’m spiritual. Apparently, the introduction of Saint Michael has opened a door for you. There is no ‘requirements’ (age, profession, race) that you need to qualify.Your Mom is right here – burn candles for the Saints and listen to them. You are gifted to do spiritual work for others and I STRONGLY suggest that before you turn away from your gift, you consider learning more about it. Here’s why. PERSONAL STORY:When I was growing up, my Mother always had the Dell Horoscope magazine around and I would read it. I always had imaginary friends. I was content to play by myself and was an only child for seven years. I had quite the imagination. I always would hear things (and still do). That is called Clairaudience (to hear). I also would cringe, clutch my stomach and shudder around people; only to ask very pointed questions to my Mom and sometimes to them; causing embarrassment. That is called Clairsentience (to feel). Then when I became a teen, I got a hold of a book (in our school library, no less) and performed a love candle spell on a boy using the moon phase, a red candle and a lock of his hair and photo. OMG! he was at another school and he wanted me to take photos of me while I was nekkid and send the photo to him! NO Way! I stopped doing any kind of magic and when my voices would tell me to turn left, I would ignore them and turn right because I was fearful of that red candle spell encounter. Freaked my young self OUT! The hard-headiness went on for many, many years and I had a lot of grief over it. In my thirties, I found out that once I was again embarking on my career in education, I was expecting another child. I was so angry at myself and I spent many hours in the Chapel at Saint Mary’s, crying my eyes out. I was an exhausted mother of four with another baby on the way. I went back to the Chapel for days and one day a sense of peace came over me. God told my heart that if I were to have this child, not only will I have to have another one, but He would make everything work out, if only I would listen to my messages. So I took the deal. Now, here I am, helping others as I am being helped. Now, back to you. I suggest finding a spirituality that is comfortable with you – be it Native America, Santeria, Hoodoo and Rootwork or any other semi-organized belief systems. I am not suggesting in joining nay particular organization, but these came to mind when typing. You must follow your heart. Hi Jacqueline! Just wanted to show you a pic of this trabajo (“job” in spanish) I’m doing as I told you before its dedicated to Ochun. I lit a yellow candle, put it on top of the jar and tied a yellow and pink ribbon around the cap of the jar then prayed to Ochun to bring my boyfriend back to me. I did it for 25 consecutive days. He did come back but we argued, fought and he left once again. Now he’s gone again and I haven’t heard from him in a few days, so now I’m doing the 4 caminos (“roads” in Spanish or more likely “crossroads”) which would be 3 more sets. This would keep him from leaving. So now I tied the ribbon on the opposite side. when I’m done with the three sets its going to look like a cross. Right now I’m on about my seventh day, now what freaked me out was that after I took an Oshun bath I started praying to her in front of the candle. The flame was extremely high then it parted into 2 seperate wicks with 2 high flames. As they were burning, the flames became so small then the main wick turned off. After the 2nd flame turned off, I turned the candle on again. Also, if you look closely at the pics, you can see specks in the mirror which is actually candle wax splattered from just seven days of burning them. Jacqueline please tell me what you think… I know it’s not good.. I feel there’s a negative force that is tearing my boyfreind and me apart. I don’t believe that Oshun is against bringing us back together. The candles I’ve been burning have been burning faster than usual and it usually leaves a wax residue. I just think that someone else might be doing something against my boyfriend and me. Tt’s really scary to actually see a flame just shut off with nothing triggering it. First, honey jars are not Santeria/Lukumi/Ifa religious based, so my question here is this: Why are you mixing a traditional hoodoo/conjure/rootwork spell (the honey jar) with a goddess/deity of an African religion? Secondly, what is the “4 Cuatros” (4 Corners) Spell at the crossroads? Why would someone petition Ellegua (Guardian of the Crossroads) for love? Ellegua is for making decisions that you can live with. For example, I was living in one state and hesitant about staying or moving back to my original sate I lived for many years. I did not know what to do. I did a spell at the crossroads to tell Ellegua to ‘open my paths’ and guide me to the best way and, I would accpet the decision as I relinquished all powers of discernment on this subject to him. I moved within a month. Done deal. It makes me want to jump up and down in my office when I see the Saints/Santos/Orichas (spelled correctly) petitioned without any knowledge for which is the Orichas’ jurisdiction. What does it mean when you have a glass candle that shold burn for at least nine days and it outs before the ninth day, and there is also a popping noise that is coming out of the candle while it is burning. What does it really mean. More interestingly enough, where did you get a candle that burns for 9 days? Most of the common candles lin glass are named “7 Day”, “7 day Vigil”, or “7 day Novena” type candles. The only other candle that is larger than that (outside of being one from Pier1, Cost Plus or custom made) is the generic 14-day candle in glass. But that is not compared to your question. When a candle goes out, and not from the kitty playing with the flame, a torrential indoor downpour or gust of wind, then you can take it as the spell is done – HOWEVER – unless you have placed too much Condition or Anointing Oil in the top of the candle, which will ‘drown’ it. I interviewed a candle maker, Stan of www.wizardcandles.com, and he told me that there is a ratio or “mix” of air to liquid to combustable (wick) that needs to be maintained in order for candles to burn “right”. The wrong mix, well….. Now on the spiritual side… it CAN also indicate that the ‘other party involved’ or ‘other interested party’ is working against you – a kind of ‘candle wars’. For example, Girl Two wants to steal Boy from Girl One. She lights a “Love Drawing Candle” or “Break Up Candle”. Girl One finds out, starts lighting “Stay wiht Me” or “Go Away, Girl Two” candles. We were given an assignment but I don’t seem to understand the question very well. The question goes thus:- put three candles in the lowest place you have at home, inside a bowl with salt all around the candles. Ask for three wishes to your guardian angels, ST. PETER, ST. PAUL, ST. THOMAS. Ask one wish for business, one wish for love and one impossible wish. Publish this spell on the third day (after you requested the wishes) and see what happens on the fourth day. What I don’t really understand in the question above is the “publish this spell on the third day (after you requested the wishes)”. What am I to publish and how am I to do that I don’t just understand. I’ll be very very grateful for your reply because I’ll be expecting it real bad. The old adage of “Publishing after XX Days” is a form of “payment” or “dues” believed to be part of the ritual but in actuality a form of “advertisement” or “spreading the word”. It can also be viewed as a form of ‘tithe’ because you are using your money to spread the ‘word’ of that particular Saints works and prayers. In the United States and other places around the world, it is common for those who light candles and set petitions to Saint Jude (San Judas Tadeo) to also publish a word of thanks in the “Personals” section of their local newspaper. Now that most of the news has gone onto the Internet, I am not sure that this practice occurs with the frequency that it once did. Another way to let others know about a particular Saints’ mystical powers and the intercession that they did for you is to also pass out Prayer Cards with the image of the Saint, usually with an associated prayer on the back. These can be found in Catholic bookstores and supply houses on the Internet.
