Hi Jacqueline! Just wanted to show you a pic of this trabajo (“job” in spanish) I’m doing as I told you before its dedicated to Ochun. I lit a yellow candle, put it on top of the jar and tied a yellow and pink ribbon around the cap of the jar then prayed to Ochun to bring my boyfriend back to me. I did it for 25 consecutive days. He did come back but we argued, fought and he left once again. Now he’s gone again and I haven’t heard from him in a few days, so now I’m doing the 4 caminos (“roads” in Spanish or more likely “crossroads”) which would be 3 more sets. This would keep him from leaving. So now I tied the ribbon on the opposite side. when I’m done with the three sets its going to look like a cross. Right now I’m on about my seventh day, now what freaked me out was that after I took an Oshun bath I started praying to her in front of the candle. The flame was extremely high then it parted into 2 seperate wicks with 2 high flames. As they were burning, the flames became so small then the main wick turned off. After the 2nd flame turned off, I turned the candle on again. Also, if you look closely at the pics, you can see specks in the mirror which is actually candle wax splattered from just seven days of burning them. Jacqueline please tell me what you think… I know it’s not good.. I feel there’s a negative force that is tearing my boyfreind and me apart. I don’t believe that Oshun is against bringing us back together. The candles I’ve been burning have been burning faster than usual and it usually leaves a wax residue. I just think that someone else might be doing something against my boyfriend and me. Tt’s really scary to actually see a flame just shut off with nothing triggering it. Now, here’s my thoughts. First, honey jars are not Santeria/Lukumi/Ifa religious based, so my question here is this: Why are you mixing a traditional hoodoo/conjure/rootwork spell (the honey jar) with a goddess/deity of an African religion? Secondly, what is the “4 Cuatros” (4 Corners) Spell at the crossroads? Why would someone petition Ellegua (Guardian of the Crossroads) for love? Ellegua is for making decisions that you can live with. For example, I was living in one state and hesitant about staying or moving back to my original sate I lived for many years. I did not know what to do. I did a spell at the crossroads to tell Ellegua to ‘open my paths’ and guide me to the best way and, I would accpet the decision as I relinquished all powers of discernment on this subject to him. I moved within a month. Done deal. It makes me want to jump up and down in my office when I see the Saints/Santos/Orichas (spelled correctly) petitioned without any knowledge for which is the Orichas’ jurisdiction. Unless it was explained to me wrong – and I will give this inch of doubt – unless your spiritual worker was telling you, “Hey! Hi Jacqueline, Is it necessary to cast a circle for protection to keep unwanted negative energies away before performing a ritual/love spell? Or can I cast a love spell and use my Bible to recite a script like Psalm 23. What does it mean when the candles keeps going out when doing a spell,and there are no signs of the spell working and it has been six days that I started it? The spell is my full name and his, his d.o.b as well as mine and a heart around the names? What do you think I am doing wrong? (question edited for grammar) Melissa * * * * * * * I have written some past posts in regards to candles going out. These can be found in the archives of Free-Candle-Spells. I am hoping that you are not re-lighting the same candle, as it is a traditional belief that if and when the candle goes out, the spell is done. Apparently, it is going out before the candle has burned all the way down to the end. Given that there is no gale force winds or kittens and kiddies around to bother the candle, the candle going out means that the spell is not going well. If you want to continue doing this spell, you need to start over fresh with a new candle, doing proper cleaning, incensing (in some beliefs) anointing with condition oil, praying over and caring for it like it is a tender infant. Your cost for the re-do? A few bucks for the candle and some more of your time. You did not perform the candle spell correctly. There are different methodologies in writing the petition paper and many examples of love candle burning spells, so I will leave it to you to research different ways to create a good petition paper. When speaking in regards of time, some candle spells show signsof success instantaneously and some take some time to get around to it. The old adage, “Three Days, Three Weeks, Three Months” is a guideline that each individual needs to determine and set in their own minds and hearts. Given that even tough you have not allowed some time for this to work and especially that the candle keeps going out ( the ‘s’ in candles tells me this has happened more than once), this does not bode well for success. I think more importantly, the writing is on the wall – this my not be the love match that is good for you. Like chocolate, it is so good to our taste buds but bad for our waistlines; so goes love matches sometimes. You might think that they are “the One”, but the Universe does not think so, and only with time will you realize that they aren’t. You may be attracted to a certain type of man – race, lifestyle, etc, but in the end, it might come back to bite you. About the same time, you have chased off less-than-devilishly-handsome-but-would-die-to-be-your-man types that were a good thing for you and would ‘go the distance’ in a relationship. Better to ask God, the Angels, the Saints and the Universe to bring you the type of relationship that you need, not necessarily what you want. Good Luck!...

Jacqueline, I want to get back with a certain lover that ended our relationship abruptly. What candle do I use to get him to contact me. Thank you, Lily * * * * * * * There are a lot of factors to consider when attempting to use candle burning spells to reconnect with someone. My first question would be: How long have you been apart? That right there should be the most determining piece of information needed to create a candle spell. But, because this was not offered, I am going to assume that it has not been too long. I would take two white 7-day glass ‘novena’ or ‘vigil’ type candlesand after cleaning them, label them with the full name of yourself and the other party. Then I would get some “Spirit”, “Spirit Guide”, “Come to Me” Condition Oil or even in a pinch, olive oil that you have extended your hands over and prayed a heartfelt and sincere prayer of blessing and intention. Anoint the candles with the oil, rubbing the oil in counterclockwise to draw them back. Attache the name papers. If you have a photograph, use that as well. Take candles to an area on your desk or where your telephone is located. This spell is best to use when you can leave the telephone (or landline) alone and answer from another part of the house. However, if this is impossible or you do not have a landline but only a cellular phone, place the cell phone between the two candles as much as possible (even overnight when you are charging it) for maximum exposure. Sit the candles on either side of the telephone in flame retardant saucers (just in case). Pray over the candles again your heartfelt prayer and follow it with one of your own belief system (Hail Mary, Our Father, etc.) Light candles and keep them lit. It is also said that if you desire someone to call, you may wipe down the telephone with whiskey that has has loose tobacco steeping in it. The legend is that Native American (almost everyone has them, right?) Spirit Guides will be attracted to the scent of the mixture and will activate the ‘spark’ to make a call happen. ...
