Attributes of Ochun are: the number 5 (and multiples of 5). yellow, gold, the day of Friday, rivers, lakes, brass bell, peacock feathers, fans, perfume, hand mirror, combs, cinnamon, pumpkin, champagne, mimosa, oranges, honey. Ingredients 5 Glass 7-day Novena Candles 1 Large Clear or Yellow Glass Ceramic Plate 5 Oranges 5 Yellow Roses or Carnations (in vase, if possible) 5 Paper Fans (can be purchased at craft or party supply store) Yellow Tablecloth small Jar of Honey 5 small Pastries with Yellow Frosting or Cinnamon Icing Letter written to Ochun as if she was your best friend and confidant, explaining your love or monetary crisis Take all items in containers to the riverbank. Find a location that is somewhat secluded. Clean area of shoreline that you will place your offering. First, lay down your tablecloth, spreading it out nicely. Take the jar of honey and collect a jar full of river water. Go home, place this river water in a pot along with more spring water and cinnamon. Boil to make a tea to use in your bath and let cool. Take a shower to clean yourself first, then scrub out the tub to clean it and then run a clean bath. Pour the cinnamon/river water mixture into the bathwater. Get in and immerse yourself completely from head to toe in the water. Get out and pat yourself dry and light a yellow candle in your bedroom for Ochun’s guidance. Once a year a reading from Cuba fortells which of the Oricha are ruling that year. This particular spell was one of my own. Flamestro is in one of the online groups I belong, and sent this e-mail. Flamestero asked: I was reading your St. Jude spell and I have a question. What do you do with the cinnamon dusted letter to St. Jude when the candle burns out and when your petition has been granted? What do you do in both cases? Some things you can do with the remains of your candle spell: Dust your sheets (if they are coming over and woo woo); Dust a love letter to them; Reuse it for a future candle; Put it in a love mojo bag; Sprinkle it in their coat pocket when they visit; or Put it into another dusting powder and give it to them at Valentine’s Day. When the petition is granted I take the written petition and burn it with some copal or sage outside, letting it go to the Heavens. I would publish his works in the newspaper (you have seen them in the personals) or at least, get some of his prayer cards and pass them out (remember, you still are advertising for Jude, but in a unique way).Toss the candle glass in the recycling. If you used a free standing candle (one that is not in a glass cylinder), you can use the wax to make a jack ball with the sachet, petition paper and a few other items such as herbs, minerals and personal effects. Scribble with all of your feelings into the paper heart. While you color think about dissolving all the anger around you. Also see yourself overcoming any personal obstacle in life. Imagine the problems you might be having in life dissolving and never again returning to you. When you feel that there is not any more paper showing through on the paper heart, write your name and your desired outcome to be on the back of the heart. Place the heart colored side up on the mirror in the center. Light the candles and say a small prayer to those around you that are needing to better understand you and your needs to be set free from their anger. Light the North candle first, then the east, south, and west. Call upon Spirit (whom ever you worship in life). Allow the candles to continue to burn until they go out.
