Here are some reasons to wait to burn a candle for a situation: Number 1 (and probably the most logical reason) – You are being coerced or forced to burn a candle by someone who has given you a reading and claims that their $150.00 candle will do the trick. A good, ethical reader, spiritual worker, conjurer or root worker should NEVER charge you a week’s worth of wages for a candle. If you are faced with the situation, tell them you have to go check your bank balance and then GET THE HECK OUTTA THERE! Look, I burn candles for clients all the time (I charge $13.00), and the candle’s cost, the oil that I apply, my time I spend with the candle and sending you a photo and update on its’ actions have been reasonably thought out and it is a big, bad NO-NO to cheat someone because you will then be cheated. Then later, when you find out that the one you are all mad about went over to fix the broken water faucet (or else the place would have flooded), then you got a whole lot of ‘spiritual backpedaling’ to do. A reader writes: Hi Jacqueline, I have a question about what spell or spells I should use to get my ex-husband to pay child support. Here is a little more about the situation. That’s OK with me, because I know he is dumb enough to ‘surface’ in about three years, when our last child turns 18, and then I will have a few years of Federal Income Tax being captured to reimburse me for all my efforts. Remember, you may wait for the money but you’ll get the money eventually. I was told by one representative that an elderly lady brought in a $65,000 check to the office, claiming ‘ it must have been a mistake’. They told her that her ex had sold his house, and since they had a lien on the property, captured her money before he got the final check. The clerk told me that the lady said her children were in their thirties and she didn’t know what to do with it. The clerk said she was told to go on a long vacation. The lady balked a bit but then was given the suggestion to spend a little but then set up college funds for the grandchildren. Obviously, the lady ‘made do’ or ‘got by’ with what she made on her own, but this was her money since she sacrificed for so many years while ex went on his merry way. Regarding the restraining order, you need to call the police EACH AND EVERY TIME he violates – and you had better not be luring him into a trap by calling him over. I have a situation with a young lady interfering in my relationship. We have been burning “run devil run” candles and its been going pretty good. However, recently the candles have been turning black. Even the love candles we are burning are turning black. What else can we do? Renee The presence of black or soot on candles means that negativity or ‘evil’ is being burned off, if we rule out physics. Let’s tackle that one first. Provided that you are not ‘overdosing’ your candle with oil (3,5,7,9,11 or 13 drops being the ‘magic number’ of drops of oil into the top of your candle), then we are fine. It is when someone thinks, very much like laundry detergent, that ‘if one scoop is recommended, then two SURELY will get them clean’ is not, I repeat, IS NOT the way to go with condition or anointing oils.  You could be creating your own recipe for negativity by using too much oil, thus creating the possibility of the candle putting itself out (too much oil and liquid wax in the well), but also the sooty residue of excess oil being burned off. Use only the magical number of drops (odd numbers listed above) and you should be fine. Now, with that out of the way, let’s talk spiritual.If the candle begins to be sooty towards the top of the glass, but clears out, then this is a POSITIVE sign that negativity is being ‘burned off’ and your Guardian Angel is working for your good by the end of the candle burn. There are also some other factors to take into account. How was the flame acting throughout the burn? Was it actively flipping and moving about? Was there popping or crackling noises? Was the flame low or looked like it was about to go out? Candle wax formations, coloring or sooty residue and the actions of the flames are all factors to consider when doing candle divination.
